Abstract
Lexico-grammatical forms in functional linguistics
Huseynova P. A.
The article is devoted to the emergence and development offunctional linguistics, which is one of the most widespread schools of structuralism, its role in the theory and practice of modern linguistics and its attitude to lexic-grammatical forms.
Regarding the specifics of the subject in the functional aspect, we note that the discovery and study of the semantic-functional features of grammatical categories belongs to the field of functional grammar.
If in traditional grammar grammatical units and categories were systematically studied and their general characteristics were explained, then in functional grammar the functions performed by these categories in the speech process and the meanings they express are systematically studied.
It should also be noted that functional grammar is not a new grammar, completely opposite to traditional grammar, but simply manifests itself by highlighting the functional aspect of the grammatical structure of the language. In other words, the specificity of functional grammar can be revealed only on the basis of the principle of unity of the system-structural and functional aspects of grammar as a whole.
In Turkic linguistics, most linguists consider these forms as modifying adjectives, sometimes as modifying verbs, and sometimes as verb forms, depending on their function.
It can be said that linguists and researchers did not mention that these forms have the meaning and function of verb signs in addition to the function of an abstract object and a nominal sign. Speaking about the dual nature of such forms, VG. Guzev presents these forms as forms that form the second category of representation, and emphasizes that they “have the meanings and functions of abstract objects, nouns and verbs.”
A similar idea can be found in the studies of N.N. Telitsyn in Uighur, M.Sh. Mamatova in Uzbek, N.N. Tidykova in Altai, M.B. Askerov in Azerbaijani and Turkish languages.
Key words: structuralism, functional linguistics, lexico-grammatical forms, functional-semantic content.
