Special attention is paid to the question of the influence of the English neo-Platonic philosopher of the XVIII century Shaftesbury on Keats. This influence can be found in the actualization of the moral content of the concept of love, which in ancient Neoplatonism has primarily a cognitive meaning.
As a result of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that Keats ' creativity and his aesthetic views were formed under the influence of the Neoplatonic system of ideas, and therefore the appeal to Neoplatonism in order to interpret the works of the English romantic makes it possible to understand them more deeply. The results of the study can also be used to study the question of the reception of philosophical ideas of antiquity in subsequent epochs of European cultural history.
