Военная тема стала одной из основных и магистральных линий как развития, так и функционирования современной массовой культуры, представленной, в том числе, и многочисленными фантастическими проектами, фактически являющимися рефлексиями относительно реального исторического военного опыта ХХ в., отражающими попытки преодоления или примирения с наследием милитаризма или локализацией пацифизма в пространствах современной массовой культуры, склонной использовать универсальный язык имитации и симуляции даже в тех случаях, когда в центре рефлексий оказывается война.
Современная массовая культура Северной Америки развивается крайне динамично, регулярно появляются новые полнометражные фильмы и сериалы, продолжающие ранее запущенные проекты. В 2021 г. в США должна выйти новая экранизация классического романа Фр. Херберта «Дюна», продолжаются съёмки новых проектов в рамках сериала «Звёздный путь». Планируются съёмки второго сезона сериала «Воспитанные волками». Кроме того, новая администрация США может пересмотреть свою внешнюю политику, внеся коррективы в проведение военных операций, на что неизбежно отреагирует и массовая культура. Таким образом, военная тематика в современной американской поп-культуре нуждается в дальнейших исследованиях, основанных на принципах междисциплинарности.
