В то же время были обнаружены кросс-культурные различия между азербайджанской и российской выборками. Оказалось, что в азербайджанской выборке оценки валентности эмоциональных переживаний, индуцируемых предъявленными фотоизображения, поляризуются, т.е. негативные эмоции оцениваются как более негативные, а позитивные - как более позитивные. Наиболее ярко этот эффект проявлялся для негативных эмоций. Азербайджанская выборка склонна считать, что эмоции, возникающие при оценке изображений, рисующих ситуации столкновений, горящего человека или трупы животных, гнилых зубов, чрезвычайно неприятны. Для российской выборки при оценке валентности эмоций наблюдался скорее эффект регрессии к среднему. Их оценки эмоционально негативных изображений были смещены в положительную сторону относительно азербайджанской выборки. Напротив, в российской выборке оценки валентности переживаний, возникающих в ответ на эмоционально позитивные изображения, особенно связанные с эмоцией удивления, сдвигались к отрицательному полюсу.
Также отмечены различия в оценках двух выборок, сделанных по шкалам активации (эраузела) и доминантности. Прежде всего это касалось оценок эмоционально негативных изображений. Азербайджанская выборка оценивала активирующий и доминирующий эффект негативных стимулов более сдержанно по сравнению с российской выборкой. Мы можем предположить, что в азербайджанской выборке действует мощная контролирующая или даже подавляющая тенденция, обусловленная культурно-историческими особенностями, которая не позволяет развиваться сильной активации при виде сцен насилия и особенно отталкивающих изображений. Данные соотношения оценок двух шкал еще раз наглядно демонстрируют подтверждение тех фактов, которые были установлены при сравнении оценок, сделанных представителями двух выборок, по каждой отдельной шкале.
Были выявлены и различия в соотношении оценок, данных по шкалам валентности и активации (эраузела). Для российской выборки характерен «эффект бумеранга», который заключается в усилении активирующего эффекта стимулов при приближении к полюсам шкалы валентности. В азербайджанской выборке этот эффект касался только положительного полюса шкалы валентности: чем более позитивно оценивались стимулы, тем выше оценивался уровень активации, который они вызывают. Для эмоционально отрицательных стимулов эта закономерность проявлялась слабее.
Итогом работы стало обнаружение универсальных и культурно специфических аспектов в оценках эмоциогенных изображений разноязычными респондентами. Данные такого рода могут служить для разработки культурных ассимиляторов, а также основой для более глубокого взаимопонимания представителей разных культур.
