Понятие «ценностные ориентации» не тождественно понятию «ценности». Ценности представляют в большей мере социальный феномен и характерны для конкретного общества в целом, тогда как система ценностных ориентаций - это результат субъективного отношения индивида к ценностям через призму своего опыта, что определяет значимое и незначимое для него. Устоявшаяся система ценностных ориентаций является основой личностного становления.
